The Forgotten Patient- Powerful, Patient, Not Forgotten

Kris Held, MD for President!

Reality check- the Democrats are pursuing single payer government run socialized medicine and proposed the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act (H.R.676 introduced in the House 01/24/2017 by Rep. John Conyers, Jr. (D- MI- 13)). Ironically, the Republicans won control of the White House and maintain control of House and Senate, largely on campaign promises to repeal and replace Obamacare, but have all but reneged on their vows, in effect, spitting on the Constitution and those who elected them.

I am a physician and patient who read and understands the healthcare laws, most notably the paradoxically named and failing Affordable Care Act and the totalitarian-style Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA), that was appallingly sponsored and continues to be supported by Representative Michael Burgess, M.D. (R-TX- 26). Over the last 8 years, I traveled to the Swamp too numerous to count times and engaged with physicians, patients, economists, and…

Urgent Letter to Members of Congress to Implore Them To Reject RINOCARE/Obamacare 2.0.

Dr. Kris Held has the absolute best perspective regarding Big Insurance, Obamacare and now Republican Care. She is both a physician and a patient. She is not a politician. She is not a lobbyist. She does not belong to any special interest groups. She has invested the time to understand the healthcare laws past, present and to come. Please listen to her! Unlike many politicians, she knows what she is talking about.

I will be sending this to Members of Congress tomorrow. Please call or write members of Congress ASAP.

March 21, 2017

Dear Congressman/Congresswoman,

You were elected on a promise to repeal and replace Obamacare. If you vote “yes” on the GOP healthcare bill Thursday, you will fail to uphold your promise. I have read the bill word for word. Have you read it? I have also read the ACA, MACRA, the MACRA rules, and much more healthcare law ad nauseum word for word. Have you? The AHCA makes horrible things worse. I pray you will stand up for what is right and for what you promised, instead of acquiescing to pressure from those who represent selfish interests against the will of the American people. The bill is clearly written to appease, if not reward, big healthcare insurance executives, big hospital interests, and the Left. Why?

The healthcare debacle is extraordinarily…

Live the American Dream? #WakeUpAmerica

carlin

#WakeUpAmerica

Like many entrepreneurs, I have faced many challenges. They’re called opportunities. I’ve met most, failed many, but I’ve persevered. The American Dream is about opportunity. It’s not a given. You have to face your challenges, because you can live the American Dream.

Many Americans no longer believe in the American Dream. There is a hashtag, #WakeUpAmerica trending on Twitter. I hope it resonates with more Americans. To realize your dreams, you have to wake up to those dreams. You have to live them. You have to have hope, passion, trust in others, work smart, and never give up.

From Forbes, The American Dream? are quotes from many well-respected leaders of the free world. Pick a liberal, a conservative, a libertarian or an independent, and they will say what you want to hear. In large part, Americans are supposed to believe what they say.

Take Nancy Pelosi for instance. She says, “The American Dream is the hope for a better future with equal opportunity for all to participate in the prosperity and success of our great nation.” Sounds good! You would think her basic beliefs are aligned with most Americans. In reality, that’s not the case.

An Obama quote is absent from The American Dream Forbes article. I Googled “Barack Obama on the American Dream.” From a 2012 NPR interview he said, “I think the history of the United States, the reason we became an economic superpower is because, not always perfectly, not always consistently, but better than any other country on Earth, we were able to give opportunity to everybody,” he said. “That’s what the American dream was all about.”  Obama says, “Preserving that dream requires a balancing act between self-interest and community. Success is not an entitlement in his book. But neither is it a reward for individual effort alone.” Obama said it to get reelected but his words fell on the deaf ears of many small business owners, a.k.a., taxpayers.

My support for Obama died when he said:

There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me because they want to give something back. If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there.  It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.

Bullshit! He’s talking about the celebrity elite, not the guy that is building a successful business from nothing. He’s right! They didn’t build America, small businesses built America!

In 2012, we again, elected a president who is so self-absorbed with issues like a bad Iran deal, Islamaphobiaclimate change, Obamacare, and gun control. As for gun control, I believe we are entering a new era of lone wolf terrorist attacks on innocent civilians. Americans will absolutely recoil from any future gun control legislation.

Many American’s disagree with the president on almost every major issue, like Russia’s new conquest, Syria.  This president has gone so far as to put those who have taken all the risks, at risk of losing everything we’ve built, like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. American exceptionalism is driven by individual effort multiplied by millions of Americans and it won’t take a backseat to entitlement. So sorry Mr. President, you didn’t build that, and you can’t take that away, either. #WakeUpAmerica

Letter To My Patients Regarding My Opt-Out of Medicare, Non-adoption of ICD-10, and Plea to Stand With Me

Government-Big-Pharma-VennPlease read Kris Held, MD.’s heartfelt letter to her patients. I applaud Dr. Kris Held for her ethical stand against big government and big insurance takeover of the healthcare system. At the same time it is sad day in America, when freedom to choose the doctor you have entrusted over the years with your well being is jeopardized. Healthcare is being severely compromised by politics and profit.

Ask yourself how often you are asked to play by the rules in a game where the deck is stacked against you? The deck being, who you can choose to be your healthcare provider, what treatment you can afford, what medication you are allowed to take? Ask yourself whether the tax dollars you have paid into a corrupt system over many years of hard work are being squandered by wasteful government spending, pocketed by special interests, big pharma, lobbyists and corrupt politicians?

You may think your hands are tied. You can’t afford an alternative. You have no choice. In America, you always have a choice. That may mean you have to do with less of what you want to do and more of what you have to do, to preserve America’s future, your children’s future, and your grandchildren’s future.

We need to rid this country of career politicians. Establish term limits. Vote with your wallet against large corporations who have their hands in your pockets. Do business with your neighbors and small businesses who have your best interests at heart. Every election is important, local, county state and federal. Vote. Vote in this next election, vote with your heart.

Dear Cherished Patient,

I most humbly request you take a few minutes to read my heartfelt letter to you. Whether I have cared for you for the past 20 years or you are new to the practice, I want you to understand that I value our relationship most highly and regard my service to you as your physician and surgeon as a privilege and a blessing. I honor the Hippocratic Oath and will treat you individually to the very best of my ability with dignity and privacy.

In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Social Security Act Amendments into law creating Medicare and Medicaid with the promise that the federal government would not interfere in any way with the practice of medicine whatsoever including compensation, administration, or operation of any institution, agency, or person per Title XVIII SEC.1801.

Tragically, over the past 50 years, the government’s pledge to not interfere with…

Gay Rights, The Affordable Care Act and This Bald Eagle

11390065_1620299788225300_8909913669019005123_nThis latest meme (left) from Obama supporters is special… I say congrats to the classless Obama supporters.

Gay rights? It was happening state by state to its logical conclusion anyway. Meh… No need for the heavy hand of the SCOTUS. Personally. I’m going to miss the parades.

Those applauding our SCOTUS and the POTUS, obviously don’t run a small business or care about what’s really going down.

There are more families today in poverty than when Obama took office 7 years ago (5.5 Million more). This despite more jobs. Obviously more jobs means LOWER paying jobs.

The federal debt owed to the public has more than DOUBLED under Obama, rising by 103 percent. Nothing to gloat about.

You can high-five the employment numbers all you want, but the costs are high. I fear, for my children’s future, which is Greece. There are more people insured under Obamacare, but the cost is high. Most are subsidized or on Medicaid and the costs are unsustainable. Who gets hurt, small business and the middle class.

A case in point… we have 42 employees. We pay 100% of our employees health and dental benefits. Since the ACA was enacted, despite submitting to higher deductibles every year, our premiums have risen over 30%, 12 1/2 percent this year alone. Consider the competition is going from five major carriers to three, the future is not bright for small business healthcare cost. Just the facts.

I’d say this bald eagle is more a symbol of an endangered species, small business, rather than a symbol of America’s greatness. High fives all around to the Obama supporters!

Have We Been Grubered? How Does Medicaid Expansion Affect All of Us?

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/9b2/29931098/files/2014/12/img_1184-0.jpg I’m not in the medical profession. I’m a CEO of a software company with 40 FTEs concerned about big government and taxes.

A recent article in the NYTs As Medicaid Rolls Swell, Cuts in Payments to Doctors Threaten Access to Care

I’m also concerned about everyone’s welfare, including the uninsured. So pardon my naïveté.

Here’s my take. Hospitals were caring for the uninsured for free. Now they get something, but less each year, but it’s still more than nothing. The argument being with the ACA now they have to contend with more patients who can’t afford healthcare and the end result being it ends up costing hospitals more than nothing because of the increase in the number of people seeking care. Which is a good thing for the uninsured, right?

Unless the ACA a.k.a., Obamacare, a.k.a. Big Government, pulls a sleight of hand, reducing the Medicaid reimbursable to the extent large hospitals will only survive in a single payer system and smaller hospitals and practitioners are the losers forced to join larger institutions if they want to survive. What’s obvious is many talented practitioners get screwed.

On the other hand, I guess what I am suggesting is, it’s not apparent to me or most people, whether the ACA is helping people or hurting people. Certainly I oppose a big government takeover of our healthcare system.

What’s not apparent to me is how we take care of the uninsured/or recently indoctrinated Medicaid patients and still provide the best healthcare system in the world.

Liberals Die When They Want To…

162Zeke says, “Time to go!”  I’ve now been educated that liberals die when they want to, or in fact, they need to, in order to make Obamacare less of a disaster.  Liberals mandate when it’s time to die.  Whereas conservatives die when they have to and not when its convenient.

I’m one of them.  A conservative.  I’m 62.  It may be convenient for liberals like you, Zeke Emanuel to die when you want to, but conservatives don’t have that luxury .  After all, somebody has to pick up the tab.  We don’t get to choose when to die.  There’s this thing called family.

I have a family.  A wife who’s retired and 2 grown children just getting started in their careers.  My wife needs a husband who can spend more time with her.

My two girls are just getting started in their families and in their careers.  Did anyone tell you Zeke, kids are getting married in their 30s and 40s, not in their 20’s?  Did anyone tell you, they’re having kids in their 30s and 40’s not in their 20’s?  Who are these kids going to call Grampa, if I cash in my chips, toes up at age 75?

My wife has been waiting over 40 years for me to retire.  She has worked in the school system and done the lion share to raise my children throughout their formative years.  We didn’t even start taking vacations until the girls were in high school.  What am I going say to my wife when I’ve finally paid off the mortgage, sold my business and our kids are popping out babies, snot-nosed kids that we can spoil at age 75?  “Sorry honey, Zeke says, time to go.”  Really?!

The Zekemobile

If I retire from my business at 68-70 years of age, I get to enjoy 5 yrs. in retirement?  My wife and I could spend time with our daughters, their children, and would have maybe 5-7 years to see the world or at least a little more than the backyard??!

That’s when I had an idea!  Like in Back to the FutureI could build a time machine like the DeLorean DMC-12 only in an 8 passenger family and friends van to escape from Zeke and Obamacare.

My Mom would have a heart attack if I told her I was going to die at 75 years of age.  She would only be 98!  It would be too much of a shock to her system.  How can I ask her to pass up an opportunity at age 100, to be mentioned by Willard Scott on the Today Show?!

I run a successful small business. I am employ over 35 people.  I take pride in helping them and their families.  They’re my extended family.  One of our very own extended families had a baby today, 8 lbs. 10 oz.  That baby will be 29 yrs. old Zeke, a young adult with a new family and hopefully a burgeoning career, when his own Dad is supposed to die.

I gave my Dad’s eulogy when I had turned 60.  I had 30 more years today to be with and learn from my Dad, Zeke, than you would ask of one of my own employee’s son’s to share with his Dad?!

Jonestown Massacre 918 Died

Most of my friends are my age or older, so who would I hangout with?  I guess when that time comes in 10-15 years we could throw a Jimmy Jones Jonestown party and all drink the Kool-Aid Zeke Emanuel is selling?

Frankly Zeke, you’re a joke and you make me sick.  You’re an Obamacare zealot?  You’re just in it for the money.  You don’t care about anyone but yourself and your lord and savior, Obama, so I’m not going to rollover and die for you.

On the other hand, if liberals, like you, Zeke, want to die at 75 yrs. of age, that’s OK.  It just sounds like another liberal born entitlement to me.

One that I can live with…
